Skills Validation

My stress level took a huge plunge 5 minutes ago.  Skills Validation, the most stressful moment of my life thus far, is over.  Have you ever listened to someone giving a speech, and it sounds like they are about to cry because their voice is shaking so much due to their nervousness?  Yup, you guessed it, that was me this morning as I did Vital Signs, Foley Catheter Insertion, Injection, and Oral Meds on a freaking dummy.  We start clinicals next week…we’ll see how the stress level is the first time I have to give an injection to a real person.  Hahaha, I can only imagine.  I’m going to sleep, the last 2 weeks have been an accumulation of stress, stress, and more stress.  Relaxation is going to be my best friend this weekend.

Oh, I almost forgot…2 classes down.  I ended up with a 94% in both Assessment and in Foundations.

  1. Hi Jeff, I just discovered your blog. I will subscribe. Great stuff. I know a lot about what you are going through because Alyvia my sister lived with me while she was in your same program at Research. Also of course April at KU Med. Nurses everywhere huh. Hang in there man, tough stuff.
